Focus on Your Martial Arts Mindsets

By Kovar Systems

At our schools we teach students the importance of maintaining the Martial Arts Mastery Mindsets throughout their training to help them develop both as a martial artist and in their personal lives. Each mindset encourages ways to strengthen the relationships they have within their community and with themselves.

We have found that especially right now those mindsets come into play in a big way. Here are just a few of the 14 mindset that Hanshi Dave Kovar has created...

This Challenge Will Make Me Stronger is an excellent affirmation to use when you have to navigate rough waters. It reminds us of the importance of optimism and resiliency, and it can help you keep your perspective and stay focused on solutions. How can you accept the challenges of today and be stronger for it? See this moment as what it is: an opportunity to learn and grow.

I Remain Calm…. Even In Challenging Situations. This is a critical role for us all as leaders. When things get tough, are you able to stay the course and be a source of stability for those looking to you? We ask our students, “Who is a mighty person?” There are lots of ways to answer this question, but we teach our students that a mighty person is one who has control over their emotions. Are there situations right now that you may have responded to with strong or uncontrolled emotions? How could you approach those situations more calmly and see better results?

I Accept Positive Energy. Sometimes we can struggle with accepting compliments, or allowing positive influences in if we think we don’t deserve it in the moment. You do, so let it in. Make a deliberate choice to spend time with optimistic people. Read inspiring books. Go to uplifting places. Find ways to be of service to others and bring value to the lives of those around you. When you surround yourself with positives you’ll be re-energized. And when you let yourself feel that renewed energy, you’ll fully understand the power of “I Accept Positive Energy.”

I Bring Value To All My Relationships. How do you interact with others? Do you listen and truly take the time to be present with those around you? Sometimes the smallest actions make the biggest impact on others. Give a smile, help open a door, and listen to them. Start with your friends and family, ask them how their day went and really listen for their answer. Show them that you value their relationship.

These are just a few of the Martial Arts Mastery Mindsets that we like to teach, there are many more than can help both you and your students, especially during this time of crisis. For more mindsets and the support of a martial arts community, see the offer below.
